This position is located in Lexington Park, Maryland
General Summary of Position:

  • Responsible for the day to day operations of the offices/practices of multiple disciplines. Responsibilities include direct supervision and hands-on training of front and back office staff. This includes, but is not limited to coordination of work flow, monitoring work performance as applies to quality standards, providing input for policies and procedures for the office function and determining the most effective and efficient use of staff and equipment in the office. Promotes and leads customer services in the office.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of medical office experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of computer programs, to include proficiency in both MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Previous work experience with medical coding and insurance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of supervisory/management experience
  • Associates degree in a related field.
  • Certified Medical Manager (CMM) through Professional Association of Medical Office Managers (PAHCOM) or similar professional certification.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Coordinates billing with patients and various insurance companies, submitting claims and following up as necessary. Completes timely follow-up of all denials and unpaid claims by phone contact and/or appeal letters. Obtains pre-authorization for insurance when required and complies with all insurance company needs and requests.
  • Maintains current knowledge of coding, scheduling of appointments and efficient, customer-friendly practices of the office.
  • Provides excellent customer service including problem solving, timely follow up, assisting in answering phones and scheduling appointments.
  • Oversees patient satisfaction, and communicates with the patients in case of complaints.
  • Implements staffing schedule and responds to daily staffing of department or clinic needs
  • Coordinates performance measurement and improvement activities including Performance Improvement projects under the direction of the Director. Initiates corrective action, as needed, to department associates up to, and including, written warnings in conjunction with the Director.
  • Provides staff orientation, mentoring and training to new department employees.
  • Develop and maintain system skills, knowledge, and abilities to assist the Department Leader to improve operations this includes analysis, evaluate, and prepare recommendations to enhance efficiency and productivity of patient access revenue cycle operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
